50th Birthday Speech Sample

Here is the 50th birthday speech sample. Use this as a template to get started.

Ok could we all be quiet for a moment. I know Anna didn't want a fuss made on her birthday today but Anna come on this is a big birthday and if you think you can get away without us saying a few words, you're mistaken. So could someone get Anna a chair and a stiff drink, and Anna just sit back and enjoy, this won't be painful... ok maybe a little, after all you deserve it.

First of all I want you to know that creating this speech was a group effort. Lots of people here had great things they wanted to say about you. For example your cousin Pete who you have known forever (and that's 50 years now, just in case your memory is starting to go already) wanted me to remind you what a prude you used to be.

When all the kids would just throw off their clothes and jump in the creek, you would want to try and get changed behind a towel.  So I thought I might be able to find some more stories along the same lines, but when I asked your husband if he had any stories about you being prudish he nearly choked. Funny thing was I could tell he was dying to tell me a story that would dismiss any idea of you being a prude once and for all but something held him back... you know what I can see by the look you are currently giving him..  that i think fear was holding him back. In fact fear is preventing me from saying anything more...so quickly changing the subject.

I did get to learn some new things about you that I'm not sure everyone here knows. For example I wonder if Pa,t who baked this wonderful cake, knows you won a few prizes in your time for your cakes. Did you know that Pat, you did... oh and that's why you decided to use a packet mix, because you know how much Anna used to cheat with them..

Anna did you....oh yes i can feel the fear again..

Moving quickly on

As well as being a champion cake maker (even though you used a packet mix), Anna volunteered at our local child centre for 15 years as well as bringing up her 3 children, Jack, Emily and Angus and of course being a loving wife to Harold. You are also a good friend to many of us.

I speak on behalf of everyone here, friends, family and all your pets ( no we won't go there) we wish you well and here's to another 50 years. Happy birthday Anna.
