First Birthday Speech

First Birthday Speech Template So You Can Stop Worrying and Enjoy The Party

It's your child first birthday, after the year you've had ( we all know that the first year is really hard, especially if you are first time parents) you've decided to hold a first birthday party.

Yes it is time to celebrate, after all, reaching 12 months is a milestone. In the excitement of planning the celebrations you have forgotten that you will be expected to give a little speech. It doesn't have to be any thing fancy, but there will be friends there, and of course family. Don't start dreading the party because you are worrying about what you are going to say. This first birthday speech template will help guide you through the process of writing something special for your little girl or boy.

Here you will find some suggested topics. There is no need to use them all ( please don't because there are lots), just read through them to get an idea. However I do recommend that you include some thank yous.

Thank the guests for attending
Thank them all for any gifts your baby has received.
Thank those people who have helped you and your family in the last year-Wife/husband/partner/parents/other family members/old and new friends/employers.

A little story from something that has happened in the last year, or just before can bring an unique touch to the celebrations. So think about what has happened since your baby was born or maybe conceived such as:

Pregnancy -Sick, well, hunger, cravings, looking beautiful
Labour- due date, on time, early, late, getting to hospital, planning hospital route, the actual trip to hospital, the nurses, doctors, obstetrician, midwife, hospital facilities, food, birth, other patients, other babies, forming new friendships
Bring baby home- Car seat, welcome home party, quiet party, family pet reactions
First day- Strangeness, novelty, over cautious compared to now
First year- Teething, tiredness, expenses, how long everything takes, feeding, clothes, admiration, being a parent, responsibilities, new child vocabulary, nappies, shopping,
Party-Cake, mums club, who to invite, so many friends at only one year old.
Siblings- their reaction, how they interact

A speech should always have an beginning, middle and end. The beginning is where you welcome and thank everyone, stories should go in the middle, you could also add some birthday quotations here, and then to conclude finish with a toast.

Although this occasion is very special, generally it should not be a very formal affair, after all it is a time to celebrate a little child 1st year. So please don't worry about your presentation and enjoy your child's ( or children's ) first birthday.
