Free Retirement Toasts

Use the free retirement toasts or make up your own

A toast is different from a speech. The speech can be long and often contains stories and roasts whilst a toast is just a couple of lines and at the end of the speech.

Making an official toast will include raising your glasses to the retiree (so make sure everyone has a full glass)

There are 3 parts to making a retirement toast:

  • Say something to toast the retiree.
  • Raise your glass (in your right hand) and say something like To Pete, happy retirement. The guests will follow your lead.
  • Sip the toast glass. This completes the toast.

Example toasts to the retiree

Remember to keep it short, this is not the place to include poems or verse, just a positive one liner is all that is required.
  • Gary, you will be missed
  • Pete, you have been a great asset to the company we wish you well.
  • Max, you can bin the calendar, because now every day is Saturday.
  • Louise, now you've retired you can say goodbye to your tension and hello pension.
  • Karen, enjoy your retirement after all it is one long coffee break.
  • And remember John, retirement gives you the chance to find happiness in the little things.
