Graduation Poetry
Graduation poetry hints and tips
If you don’t want to write a speech another option is to deliver a poem.
You can use one already written saving you lots of time. The downside is that you may bore the teaching staff who have heard the same poem in numerous graduation speeches.
Otherwise you can choose to write your own, or have one written for you.
This is a great option if you want to personalize your words to suit your audience.
Just imagine how proud your classmates and teachers will feel to be included in the graduation poem. I would expect there would be people wanting to have a copy as a memento.
Things to consider when choosing a poem
- Ensure your audience will be able to understand it the one and only time it is read.
- Will your audience be able to relate to it?
- Does it compliment the theme of your speech?
- Is it the right length? If you are using someone else’s words ( i.e. you haven’t written the poem yourself) have you got any time to say what you think.
