Review the speech writing tips to help you create a great speech

  1. Don't apologise at the beginning
    Ooze confidence and the audience will relax and listen.
  2. Don't apologize at the end
    If you forget something 9/10, no one would have noticed anyway.
  3. Don't explain quotes
    If it needs explaining, it is probably not a good choice
  4. More is not better
    Guests have short attention spans keep it short.
  5. Make sure humor is related
    Only add humor if it flows nicely with what you are saying.
  6. Use simple and familiar words
    So everyone can understand and no-one feels excluded.
  7. Short sentences help you breath
    You won’t run out of puff half way through
  8. Stick to words you can pronounce
    Otherwise, you will be focused on that word
  9. Avoid using a favourite word too often
    It's easily done so ask someone to check it
  10. Don’t use clichés
    When you could be using words to say something sincere
